How Much Does a Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica Cost? A Transparent Breakdown

If you are considering a yoga retreat in Costa Rica, one of the first questions on your mind is probably: How much will this actually cost? And more importantly — what exactly am I paying for?

At Yoga Ashram Costa Rica, we believe in radical transparency. A retreat is a significant investment in yourself, and you deserve to know exactly where your money goes before you book. No hidden fees. No surprise charges at checkout. Just honest numbers.

Our Retreat Categories and Starting Prices

We offer four distinct retreat categories, each designed for a different intention and energy level. Here is what each one costs and what is included:

Reset Retreats

Starting from $1,250

Yoga, meditation, digital detox, nervous-system reset, and gentle rest. For guests who need to pause and restore.

Healing Retreats

Starting from $1,450

Ayurveda, sound healing, breathwork, Reiki, and bodywork. For guests seeking deeper holistic support.

Transformation Retreats

Starting from $1,650

Ceremony, Vedic Astrology, Human Design, and self-inquiry. For guests at a life threshold.

Adventure and Nature

Starting from $1,350

Surf, SUP, beach yoga, and wildlife. For guests who want wellness plus movement and joy.

All prices are for the base 4-night / 5-day package. Extensions to 5, 6, or 7 nights are available and priced accordingly.

What Is Included in the Base Price?

Every retreat — regardless of category — includes the following:

  • Accommodation: 4 nights in our jungle sanctuary — private or shared bungalows surrounded by tropical gardens.
  • Daily plant-based meals: Two nourishing Ayurvedic meals per day (brunch and dinner), gluten-free and dairy-free.
  • Daily yoga and meditation: Morning and evening practices adapted to your level and energy.
  • Core experience sessions: Category-specific workshops — sound healing, breathwork, astrology reading, surf lesson, etc.
  • Integration support: Personal practice guidance and take-home tools to maintain your retreat benefits.
  • Access to our sanctuary: Yoga shala, pool, jungle trails, and communal spaces.

What Is Not Included?

To keep our pricing honest, here are the items you will need to budget separately:

  • Flights to Costa Rica: Liberia International Airport (LIR) is the closest major airport, approximately 90 minutes away.
  • Airport transfer: We can arrange a private transfer for you, or you may rent a car. Transfers are priced separately and quoted at booking.
  • Optional add-on services: Massage, additional Ayurvedic treatments, private sound healing, extra surf lessons, or private coaching sessions.
  • Travel insurance: We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical, and evacuation.
  • Personal expenses: Snacks, drinks outside meals, souvenirs, and activities in nearby Tamarindo.

Why Intimate Retreats Cost What They Cost

You might find cheaper yoga retreats in Costa Rica. You will also find much more expensive ones. Here is what determines the real value:

Group size. We host 6-12 guests, not 30. That means your yoga class has 8 people, not 28. Your questions get answered. Your practice gets adjusted. Your emotional safety is protected. This intimacy costs more to operate — and it delivers more to you.

Teacher quality. Retreats led by trained, certified, experienced teachers cost more than retreats led by recent graduates or rotating staff. Matea (E-RYT 500, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Reiki Master) and Acyuta (Vedic Science Practitioner, Breathwork Teacher) lead or personally oversee every retreat.

Food quality. Our meals are prepared fresh daily from local, organic ingredients. We do not use institutional catering. The difference in how you feel after five days of clean, intentional food versus standard buffet fare is significant.

Location and accommodation. We are not a beachfront hotel. We are a boutique jungle sanctuary. The land itself is part of the retreat experience — the sounds, the privacy, the immersion in nature. That kind of location commands a different price than a condo in town.

How to Budget for Your Retreat

Here is a realistic total budget for a 4-night Reset Retreat at Yoga Ashram:

Retreat (4 nights, Reset category)$1,250
Round-trip flight to Liberia (LIR)$400–800
Airport transfer (round-trip)$120–180
Optional add-ons (massage, extra session)$0–200
Travel insurance$50–150
Miscellaneous (tips, snacks, extras)$50–100
Total estimated range$1,870–$2,680

Is It Worth It?

We do not believe a retreat is worth going into debt for. But we also know that the guests who come to Yoga Ashram leave with something that cannot be priced: clarity, rest, tools that last, and a sense of having been truly seen.

If you are comparing us to a $500 group trip with 40 people and a yoga teacher who just graduated last month, we are not the same product. If you are comparing us to a $5,000 luxury wellness resort where you never meet the founder, we are also not that.

We are a boutique, family-owned sanctuary with a specific purpose: to hold space for real transformation. The price reflects the intimacy, the expertise, the food, the land, and the attention you will receive.
